Stage 1 eligibility criteria
Inclusion criteria Exclusion criteria Sputum smear positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis Evidence of pre-XDR-TB or XDR-TB Extrapulmonary TB Rifampicin resistance on line probe assay or culture-based drug susceptibility testing Has a critical illness or any condition that the investigator feels makes participation unsafe Willing to have HIV test or be treated with antiretroviral treatment if HIV positive Is pregnant or breastfeeding Willing to use effective contraception if indicated Is unlikely to be compliant to treatment or unable to take oral medication Has a prolonged QTcF (>500 ms) XDR: extensively drug-resistant; TB: tuberculosis; QTcF: Fridericia-corrected QT.
