Stage 1 eligibility criteria

| Sputum smear positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis | Evidence of pre-XDR-TB or XDR-TB |
| Extrapulmonary TB | |
| Rifampicin resistance on line probe assay or culture-based drug susceptibility testing | Has a critical illness or any condition that the investigator feels makes participation unsafe |
| Willing to have HIV test or be treated with antiretroviral treatment if HIV positive | Is pregnant or breastfeeding |
| Willing to use effective contraception if indicated | Is unlikely to be compliant to treatment or unable to take oral medication |
| Has a prolonged QTcF (>500 ms) |
